Time Flies!

I have decided the older I get, the shorter are the weeks! I feel as if the weeks have only about 3 days in them now. This past week has gone by in a blur and I can hardly believe I am 2-1/2 weeks out from my knee surgery. I am now walking without the aid of anything--I'm a little slow, but I have made remarkable progress. I still have quite a bit of pain but I have pretty good control with the medication I'm on. Thanks to everyone for your prayers.

We had a wonderful visit this past weekend with one of Kurt's old friends, Don and Ramona Hogner. Kurt hadn't seen them in 51 years! They just picked up where they had left off and even I feel as if I have known them forever. Ramona is a sweet lady who is so pleasant to be with. All three of our dogs fell in love with her so she must surely be great! We plan to keep up with this friendship from now on!

The weather here in Joplin this week has been fantastic--hardly getting out of the 70's in the day and down into the lower 50's at night. I'm sure this won't last because technically it is still summer, but it sure has been nice while it's here!

I'm continuing to work on my albums and I'm slowly but surely making a dent in my pile of pictures. I recently bought a wide format printer so I can print my 12 x 12 pages at home and it really does a great job.

The page above was the first one I did of my mother with her little brother, Jake. The picture I had to work with was only about 2" x 2". When I enlarged the picture, it really diminished the quality of the picture. So, I did another layout of this same picture as shown below. It looked much better so that's the one I printed.

Here is another page I did of one of Steve's visit--I believe it was in 2003.

I've rambled long enough for now. God bless you all!

I'm back!

Finally, my knee surgery is over and I'm on my way to recovery. I had the surgery done around 7:30 AM on Wednesday (Aug 29) and was released from the hospital on Saturday evening, (Sep 1). I was walking on the second day after surgery and I'm thrilled with my progress so far. The pain I've experienced for so many months is gone. The pain I have now is just from the incision and trying to get my knee and leg working again. Freeman Hospital didn't have any home therapy slots open so I went with Oxford Home Health. They assigned a really sweet, capable therapist named Tracey to me. She's great and I feel she'll have me back to normal in no time.

Kurt has really been trying to take care of me. We've decided he probably wouldn't make it as a cook because his recipe file is really limited. Needless to say we've been eating a lot of carry out. He gets great marks for trying!

On August 13th I had to send my laptop in for repair--the hinge on the lid had broken. Fortunately when I bought it I had purchased the extended warranty. What a relief when I found I had done that (because I usually don't). I was worried because I knew I wouldn't get it back before I went into the hospital. I was already feeling withdrawal pains! While we were waiting at Best Buy for a member of their Geek Squad to wait on us, Steve suggested I ask them about a rental while I would be down. I did--they don't rent computers, but because I was going into the hospital, they loaned me a laptop to use. Now that's Customer Service! My computer came in today and I was so happy to get it back! You must know that I am now a faithful customer of Best Buy!

That being said I did a layout of Allison when she was around 4 years old. I love these pictures of her! She was such a sweetie!
