We had a beautiful fall day here--the temperature was just perfect! We started our day by both going to the hair salon (for Kurt's sake I won't call it the beauty shop) to get our hair cut. That always makes me feel better--like getting some weight off your shoulders. We hadn't been to Cracker Barrell in sometime so we drove over there and had a really good breakfast--pancakes with warm blueberry syrup with a piece of ham! Now that was good eating!
My knee has really felt great today. We went to Allison's last volleyball game. Her team didn't win, but they gave a real good accounting of themselves. We were proud of them. After climbing to the very top bleacher, after the game we came home and I hopped on the riding mower and mowed the front yard while Kurt ran the weedeater. How's that for a 4-week old new total knee. I'm so grateful for the way I have bounced back from this! Praise the good Lord!

I can hardly believe our "baby" will be 37 years old in a few hours! I've been working on some of Steve's pictures today. I ran across these that were taken when he was 4 weeks old. We had the pics taken at a KMart in Wichita Falls and their sign said no infants younger than 6 weeks. Well, Steve could have almost passed for 3 months at that age. As you can see from the page he started out a whopping 11 lbs 8 oz. People were coming into the base hospital and to the nursery just to see that "big one."
People always asked if I was a diabetic at that time. The answer was no and I did not have gestational diabetes. Steve was just big! He wasn't even able to wear the baby clothes I had taken to the hospital because they were too small. Kurt was especially thrilled that we had had a boy--and one that looked like a full-back to start with!
As I was looking through his baby book that I had cropped for him (I had saved it to a CD for myself) I also lifted the following pictures of Steve and his first job. Steve was often asked to be in weddings because he was such a handsome little boy (just the facts). This page includes a picture of the first wedding he was in. He made it through the wedding but we were holding our breath! The other picture of Steve in his uniform when he began working at The Nut House at the mall.
Here is one last page I did of Steve tonight. This chronicles his growth from 1st thru 12th grade.

The last time we had a yard sale, Pam and I both said "that's it!" Well, guess what--never say never. We got a flyer in the mail and our neighborhood is having a yard sale on October 6th so we decided to join in. Kurt says we don't have to start dragging stuff out until next week and then we'll hit it hard!
We have been saving aluminum cans--another thing Pam urged us to do. We were pleasantly surprised when we took them in today and got $7.00 in return! That would have been $7 in the trash and we've also helped the environment!
I'm sorry about the comment link on this site. I've punched every button I can find and still can't make it show up. I was able to for the first few posts. Now I'm just stumped! I've asked Chris to look into it for me, so maybe he can figure it out.
I did a page of Amanda's wedding (this would be my sister's, Betty, oldest granddaughter. She really had a pretty wedding.
The page below was of our first trip to the scrapbooking convention in Arlington, Texas. The background for this page was a picture I took of the Indian Blanket wildflowers which were planted in a bed just beyond the statue of the state.
The next page is one of Steve and his friends Jerry and Tom. Tom is Steve's roommate (the guy on the left) and he has become like another son to Kurt and me. (Tom and Steve even look alike.) Tom and Jerry have been really good friends to Steve and were there for him when he needed them most!
